A graduate of NYU film school, Billy’s writing has appeared in The New Yorker, Entertainment Weekly, the Los Angeles Times, New York Newsday, the Chicago Tribune, and Salon.com.
He is the pseudonymous author of several book-length parodies, including The Ditches of Edison County, a national bestseller which was translated into Japanese and Italian. Billy’s 1995 book What I Really Want to Do is Direct tracked seven film school graduates over three years. Academy Award-winning director Steven Soderbergh called it “The definitive text on what it’s like to make a start in the film business...
I found it absolutely riveting.”
Billy’s directing debut, IT IS WHAT IT IS, a full-length digital film from his original screenplay, stars Jonathan Silverman. IT IS WHAT IT IS screened at several global festivals, including the 2003 New York International Film & Video Festival, where it won the Audience Award for Best Picture, as well as prizes for Best Screenplay and Best Directorial Debut.
For DreamWorks Animation, Billy has written the screenplays HOLY COW (with Karey Kirkpatrick) and MADAGASCAR (with Mark Burton). MADAGASCAR, featuring the voice talents of Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Jada Pinkett Smith and David Schwimmer, grossed over a half a billion dollars worldwide during its theatrical release.
Billy is currently writing the first animated 3-D feature ever to be produced in Ukraine, for Umbrella Vision Studios.

JAMIN O’BRIEN (Producer)

Jamin is Head of Production and Co-Chair of Worldview Entertainment, a motion picture production and financing company. He is the creative architect behind the company’s slate and is responsible for overseeing all elements of film development and production.
He produced the wildly successful self-distributed film BOYNTON BEACH CLUB, directed by Susan Seidelman (DESPERATELY SEEKING SUSAN, SHE-DEVIL). He recently produced JUST LIKE THE SON, written and directed by Morgan J. Freeman (HURRICANE), and the award-winning Paladin release HANDSOME HARRY, directed by Bette Gordon and starring Jamey Sheridan, Steve Buscemi, and Campbell Scott.
